Mega Millions is a multi-state jackpot game drawn twice a week. As of April 2025, the game was redesigned with a $5 ticket, a smaller Mega Ball pool, and a built-in multiplier on every play.
- Pick 5 main numbers from 1–70 and 1 Mega Ball from 1–24 — or use a Quick Pick / AI-ASA™ generated set.
- Each play costs $5. The built-in multiplier is included — no add-on required.
- Tickets must be purchased before the official cutoff for your jurisdiction (typically ~15 minutes before the draw).
- Match all 5 main numbers + the Mega Ball → jackpot (starts at $50M).
- Match 5 main numbers without the Mega Ball → base second-tier prize, multiplied by the built-in multiplier.
- Smaller prizes are awarded for partial matches down to matching just the Mega Ball.
- Overall odds of winning any prize: 1 in 23.0. Jackpot odds: 1 in 290,472,336.
